Finally pursuing her passion for organizing, Emily started Hide & Seek Organizing in 2010. She loved working with clients in the Northern Virginia area and solving their organizing challenges in their homes. In 2012, Emily closed Hide & Seek to focus on caring for her daughter who had been diagnosed with cancer. That experience not only changed her life, but gave Hide & Seek a new focus as Emily now also supports families who are dealing with a cancer diagnosis.
Emily lives in Ashburn, Virginia and spends most of her time chasing after her three kids and crazy black lab. She earned an undergraduate degree in History & Sociology from Tulane University and a graduate degree in Justice, Law & Society from American University. If given a free hour, Emily can be found running on the trails around Ashburn.
Childhood Cancer Connection
In 2012, Emily’s daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer. For several years Emily focused solely on Caroline’s care and treatment. Through this experience, Emily learned about the challenges that come with trying to maintain your ‘regular’ life while dealing with a significant, long term health event in your family.
There is no way to prepare for a cancer diagnosis. Hide & Seek Organizing works with families to help give them the peace of mind that comes with being able to focus on caring for a loved one, without worrying about how to hold together the other parts of life that continue past diagnosis.
