About

After almost ten years as a federal contractor, Emily finally decided to take a leap and follow her passion for organizing. She started Hide & Seek Organizing in 2010 and has loved working with families and professionals in the DC Metro area. Emily is a member of the National Association of Productivity & Organizing Professionals and loves speaking to groups about organizing solutions for their homes.

Emily lives in Ashburn, Virginia and spends most of her time doing laundry for her three kids and trying to convince her black lab to stop stealing socks . She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Tulane University and a Master’s degree from American University, and still loves to read even after all those classes. If given a free hour, Emily can be found running on the trails around Ashburn.

Childhood Cancer Connection

In 2012, Emily temporarily closed Hide & Seek Organizing to focus on caring for her daughter, Caroline, who had been diagnosed with brain cancer.  Through this experience, Emily learned about how challenging it can be to maintain your ‘regular’ life while dealing with a significant, long-term health event in your family. Thankfully Caroline is stable, and has even inherited her mama’s love of organizing.

There is no way to prepare for a cancer diagnosis. At Home with Cancer is a program developed by Hide & Seek Organizing to help families through all of the things that feel overwhelming at home while caring for a loved one with cancer.
